7 Tips for Instagram Live

It is always exhilarating to watch something live. The live streaming of a match or a live candid interview gets our attention.

Behind the scenes, an engaging conversation, ask me anything sessions, are some of the new age live streaming ideas that are gaining popularity on social media platforms.

In 2020, the Facebook brand grew to become a powerful live streaming platform. With over 150 million users of Instagram in India and over 1 billion users worldwide, Instagram Live has seen a growth of over 70% in April 2020.

Live streaming provides an opportunity for businesses to engage with their audience and helps to build a sense of trust and connect in the minds of the customer. It comes as no surprise that over 82% customers prefer live videos from a brand over social posts. And 54% consumers want to see more video content from businesses and brands they support.

Live streaming is a great tool that will help you engage with your audience and grow. Marketers have realized that this is not a passing fad. Live videos are interactive, engaging and can build your tribe.
Here are some tips on how you can set your Instagram live stream to connect with your audience and grow!

7 Tips for Successful Instagram Live Streaming

1. Promote Before You Go Live
Announce your event, use the countdown sticker in your story. Choose a time when your followers are online. Promote it across your other Social platforms too.

2. Optimize Your Setup
No fancy equipment, all you need is your device + 1, a mic, good bandwidth, and a well-lit space and you are all set up.

3.Set Up A Demo Account
You can do a trial run with a demo account so you have everything covered before your live session.

4. During the Event
Look at the camera. Monitor your stream with another device or have someone else monitor it for you. Stick to the key points that you want to cover, engage with your audience, respond to comments.

5. Amplify Your Reach By Inviting Guests
With Live Rooms, you can go live with up to 3 other people. Their audience will also have access to the session giving you much wider exposure.

6. Use On Screen Text
Use text in your lower third to let your audience know details about the session, name of guests, etc.
This will help people who are scrolling their newsfeed or joining in late get an idea of what the live session is about.

7. Save and Share Live Session Video
You have the option of sharing your video or downloading it.
Download, edit it (especially the first few seconds when you are just getting started).
Add an engagement trailer of 15 seconds to the start and then upload on IGTV (or IGTV series if you have a series of sessions).

So now that you have seen how easy it is to go live, you can put your creative hats on and plan your Instagram Live session. Keep it simple, promote it well on all platforms that you have a presence on and go live when your audience is online. Engage and connect with your audience and see your reach grow!
